SVBus Communication Overview

SVBus Communication Overview

Communication between the TD80 transmitter and the FINCH 5332E is accomplished using a proprietary communication protocol known as SVBus. This protocol was originally developed by Sherrex Systems, a company acquired by Titan Logix in the late 1990s.

Since its introduction, SVBus has been implemented across multiple Titan Logix products and remains the primary communication method used throughout the current Titan instrument lineup.

Key Advantages of SVBus

SVBus was designed specifically for industrial environments and provides several important benefits:

  • High immunity to electrical noise
  • Reliable communication over long cable distances
  • Excellent signal integrity in industrial installations
  • Stable operation in electrically noisy environments
  • Robust performance in mobile and vehicle-mounted applications

Communication Speed

1200 baud

Communication between the TD80 transmitter and the FINCH 5332E operates at approximately 1200 baud.

While this data rate is relatively slow by modern standards, it offers significant advantages for industrial instrumentation. The lower transmission speed improves communication reliability and increases resistance to electrical interference, signal degradation, and data corruption.

As a result, SVBus provides dependable communication between the transmitter and display, even in harsh operating environments where electrical noise and long cable runs are common.
