Does the TD100 Transmitter Need to Be Calibrated?

TD100 Transmitter

The TD100 is factory-calibrated, self-compensating, and continuously learns as operating conditions change.

1

Does the TD100 require regular calibration?

No. The TD100 is factory-calibrated, self-compensating, and does not require periodic maintenance or the seasonal summer and winter calibration previously recommended for the TD80.

2

Offset calibration during installation

Complete offset calibration once when the TD100 is first installed. This adjustment corrects small differences between the Total Offset value programmed in SensorLink and the transmitter’s actual mounting height above the tank.

Total Offset: Tells the TD100 how high it is mounted above the tank so it can provide the best possible measurement accuracy.

No further adjustment is required while the transmitter remains in service. Repeat the offset calibration if the transmitter is replaced.

3

Automatic fluid calibration

The TD100 continuously learns as operating conditions change. It detects a change in fluid and automatically calibrates itself for the fluid’s dielectric properties.

12-inch minimum: Allow the liquid to reach at least 12 inches from the bottom of the tank so the TD100 can complete the learning process.

Readings may be slightly inaccurate during the first fill below 12 inches. No operator action is required—the level reading corrects automatically once the liquid rises above 12 inches.

The TD100 relearns when:

  • The system is commissioned for the first time
  • The tank or fluid type changes
  • The transmitter changes from one probe type to another
Note: A fluid change means switching to a different product, such as moving a tank from crude oil service to refined fuel service. It does not mean every new load or a density change in the same fluid.
