My FINCH Display Shows a Level on an Empty Tank

The following steps walk you through the troubleshooting steps to take when your FINCH Display is showing a reading but the tank is empty.

Step Details Additional Info
Step 1 Ensure your tank is actually empty. Please skip this step if you are not able to or not allowed to look inside your tank.
Step 2

Check your probe for physical damage, defects, or product build up.

  • Check if the probe is bent or twisted. If probe is damaged, it will need to be repaired or replaced.
  • Inspect the probe for heavy product buildup bridging the rods. If there is heavy buildup, the probe will need to be cleaned with a solvent compatible with the product.
Please skip this step if you are not able to or not allowed to look inside your tank.
Step 3 Perform an offset calibration. Is this a new installation, or has it been running for a while? Is the probe not dead center? Is the tank double conical (where there is a dip at the bottom)? If it isn't, we would need to adjust the strap chart.
Step 4

Verify how the strapping table has been programmed on your TD Transmitter.

Make sure to confirm the probe length is the same height as the strap chart.

Tip: Refer to Titan Logix's Programming Guide for more information.

Step 5 Your TD transmitter may be defective. Replace your transmitter with a serviceable unit that has been programmed with the same information as the one it is replacing.
