FINCH II-6W Stuck in Compartment 6

FINCH II-6W Stuck in Compartment 6

The FINCH II-6W displays five dashed lines in compartment 6 — even on systems with fewer than six compartments — when no transmitter is connected there or a communication error occurs. Reprogramming the unit to match your actual compartment count resolves it.

Why this happens

The FINCH II-6W ships pre-programmed for a 6-compartment setup. If your system has fewer compartments, you must reprogram it to recognize only the compartments you actually have — for example, programming it for four compartments makes the FINCH ignore compartments 5 and 6.

Resolution

Programming Steps

  1. 1

    Obtain the FINCH programming kit

  2. 2

    Connect the kit

    • Wire the programming kit cables to the FINCH II-6W and your computer according to the wiring diagrams provided: Programming Kit 1-Page
  3. 3

    Open SensorLink

  4. 4

    Configure SensorLink

    • Click on the FINCH II icon on the left side of the window
    • Select your COM port and set the FINCH II Model Number to FINCH II-6W. Then, specify the number of compartments to enable.
    • Enable RCM if applicable by checking the Enable RCM box
  5. 5

    • Click the Program button at the bottom of the page to complete programming

Following these steps should resolve the issue and ensure your FINCH II-6W operates correctly with your specific number of compartments.
