Display and measurement

-----Communication error between the transmitter and FINCH display

Review the wiring between the transmitter and the FINCH display. Confirm the wires are connected in the correct order.

E0000Could not measure level
  • Check whether the probe is bent or damaged.
  • Move the probe to a less turbulent area of the tank.
  • If the error remains, replace the transmitter.
E0001Too many samples rejected because of excessive turbulence
  • Move the probe to a less turbulent area of the tank.
  • If the error remains, replace the transmitter.
E0002Internal transmitter error
  • Update the transmitter firmware.
  • If the error remains, replace the transmitter.
E0010Internal measurement transmitter error
  • Update the transmitter firmware.
  • If the error remains, the transmitter may contain water and should be repaired or replaced.
E0020Probe and/or transmitter connection issue

The E0020 error code (or E0092) blinking on your FINCH II display usually means the TD100 transmitter cannot detect the probe.

Possible causes are:

  • TD100 transmitter failure
  • TD100 transmitter-to-probe disconnection
  • Damaged probe
  • TD100 transmitter is too loose on the probe

Troubleshooting steps

  • Tighten the transmitter so the unit will not turn by hand. Do not overtighten it.
  • Tighten the shorting block.
  • Clean the internal connection between the probe and transmitter.
  • Remove product or debris and confirm there is no buildup.
  • Confirm the probe is not damaged.
  • Inspect the transmitter for possible water damage.

Strapping table and calibration

E0080HH alarm is too close to the spill level

The E0080 error code blinking on your FINCH II display usually means the HH (High High) alarm level is set too close to the Spill alarm. This usually happens when an offset calibration has moved the level too far down and the display locks and will not move anymore.

Troubleshooting steps

Reprogramming the TD transmitter is normally the correction for this problem.

Tip: Open the TD100 Programming Guide to walk through how to program your hardware.
E0081 / NOSTBNo strapping table is programmed

The E0081 or E0082 error code blinking on your FINCH II display usually means one of the following:

  • Internal strapping table error
  • No strapping table

Troubleshooting steps

This is usually caused because your TD100 transmitter:

  • Wasn’t programmed during the system installation
  • Was replaced for repair and wasn’t programmed

You will need to program or reprogram the transmitter with an updated strapping table.

Tip: Open the TD100 Programming Guide to walk through how to program your hardware.

If the error does not get resolved by this, you may have a defective transmitter that needs to be replaced.

E0082Invalid strapping table on startup

E0083Invalid strapping table during operation
TD80 only
  1. Cycle power to the transmitter.
  2. Reprogram the transmitter.

If the error remains, replace the TD80 with a TD100.

E0084Invalid strapping table during runtime

Reprogram the transmitter using the latest version of SensorLink or Titan Install.

E0090Outdated firmware and missing fluid calibration

A brand-new unit may display this code before the tank has been filled.

  • Update the transmitter firmware. This is the recommended action.
  • Alternatively, run your fingers up and down the probe to simulate liquid.
E0091Outdated firmware and missing fluid calibration
  • Update the TD100 firmware.
  • Perform fluid calibration by loading the tank and allowing the transmitter to self-calibrate.
E0092Probe/transmitter connection issue
  • Check the shorting block.
  • Confirm the probe is not longer than the strapping table.

This code may appear when a transmitter is connected directly to the FINCH display without a probe for testing.

E0093Outdated firmware and measurement error
  • Update the TD100 firmware.
  • Inspect the probe and transmitter for damage.
E0094Outdated firmware and measurement error
  • Update the TD100 firmware.
  • Inspect the probe and transmitter for damage.
E0095–E0098Transmitter memory failure
  • Update the firmware on the transmitter.
  • If the error remains, repair or replace the transmitter.

System, power, and transmitter detection

E0800No communication on a specific compartment
  • Inspect and correct the wiring between the transmitter and FINCH display.
  • If the error remains, repair or replace the transmitter.
E0801System initialization failure
  • Cycle power to the FINCH II or FINCH III.
  • If the error remains, repair or replace the display.
E0802Input voltage is too low

The E0802 error code blinking on your FINCH II display usually means the input voltage to the display is too low (anything below 8 volts).

Other possible causes of this error include:

  • Defective power wiring
  • Corroded connector pins or junction-box terminals

Example: The tank is half full but will not pump, and the display shows E0802 (low voltage).

Troubleshooting steps

Tool required: Digital multimeter (DMM), set to DC volts.

  1. Open the FINCH II display lid and use the DMM to check the voltage. Confirm the input voltage is above 8 volts.
  2. Look for corroded wire connections where the power cable connects.

This code may appear with E0780 when power is low or unstable.

Typically, resolving this issue requires bringing the unit in for repair service.

E0803Input voltage is too high
  • Measure input voltage with a multimeter and confirm it is below 30 V.
  • Inspect the input-power wiring.
E0804Automatic system reset
E0901No transmitters detected
FINCH III only
  • Ensure transmitters are connected.
  • Check that all junction box switches are turned on.
  • Check the transmitter wiring.
  • Check for bad transmitters and replace as needed.
  • Replace the IS fuse on the IS board if blown.

This may happen after a transmitter firmware update, after a transmitter reboot, or after an F3 reboot.
