CSA Certification (FINCH 5332E)
CSA certification and the front-panel switch
The FINCH 5332E is CSA certified for use in Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations — which is why the standard front-panel switch works differently than a conventional power switch.
FINCH 5332E — Green Circuit Board
To comply with CSA certification requirements, the standard FINCH 5332E is not equipped with an internal power switch. Power to the display must be routed through a cable gland and controlled from a location outside the Class I, Division 2 hazardous area.
Typically, this hazardous area extends approximately 2 metres (6.5 feet) around the loading API connection. Installing a conventional power-switching device, such as a toggle switch, within this area could create an electrical spark and is therefore not permitted.
Gauge Enable (PTO) only
The front-panel switch on the standard FINCH 5332E is a Gauge Enable (PTO) switch only. It does not remove power from the display.
FINCH 5332E PS — Red Circuit Board
The FINCH 5332E PS was designed to provide safe power-switching capability while maintaining CSA compliance.
This version uses a special red circuit board that incorporates a Class I, Division 2 approved soft-power switching circuit. The front-panel toggle switch can be connected to the Power Enable terminal, allowing the display power to be safely turned ON and OFF directly from the front panel.
This design eliminates the need for an external power switch while maintaining compliance with hazardous-location requirements.
