FINCH II Calibration Mode

FINCH II Calibration Mode

With the FINCH II display, you can put the system into CAL mode using two different methods. CAL mode is also used as a quick troubleshooting step to reset level measurements without changing your calibrated volume settings.

Overview

Entering Calibration Mode

Power on your TD System, then choose the compartment you want to calibrate. From there, use either of the two methods below to enter CAL mode.

Option 1 — Button Combo

The easiest way to initiate CAL mode on the FINCH II is to hold down the four function buttons on the display front until CAL starts to flash.

  • COMP SELECT
  • HORN BYPASS
  • ACK
  • DIM SLEEP

Hold and press the buttons simultaneously until the word CAL is displayed on the FINCH II, then release the buttons.

Option 2 — Power + Arrow

  1. Power off your Titan System.
  2. While the system is powered off, press and hold one of the arrow buttons (up or down — it doesn't matter which).
  3. While continuing to hold the arrow button, power on the system. This will require two people if the FINCH requires the vehicle to be turned on to power it.
  4. Continue holding the arrow button until the word CAL is displayed.
  5. Release the arrow button.

Setting the Volume

Calibrating to a Known Volume

Your tank must have at least 6 inches of liquid in the compartment you want to calibrate. Press the up or down arrows to show the volume you want to change to. Place the system into CAL mode, then adjust the display using the arrow buttons up or down to match the same volume as the liquid in the tank.

The TD100 will be updated to align with the measured volume. The strapping table is not updated.

Troubleshooting

Resetting with CAL Mode

In some cases, simply entering Calibration Mode — without changing your volume settings — will reset your system to normal level measurements. Use the following steps as a troubleshooting process to help clear alarms or address display issues.

  1. Power on your TD System.
  2. Choose the compartment that is triggering the alarm or issue. On the FINCH II display, the compartment number appears to the left of the red 5-digit display. The example below shows Compartment 1 stuck in Spill.

  3. Press and hold the four gray buttons on the display until CAL starts to flash on the display.
    1. COMP SELECT
    2. HORN BYPASS
    3. ACK
    4. DIM SLEEP

  4. Release all the buttons when CAL starts to flash on the display.
  5. Wait for the display to show a volume.

Note: It is important not to press any other buttons or the up/down arrows to adjust the display volume. You only want your system to enter CAL Mode — you are not adjusting your volume levels in this process.

  1. Once the volume is showing on the FINCH display, power off your TD System and then power it back on.

This process should return your system to normal level measurements.
