The Spill Alarm isn't going away, but my tank is empty

Your TD System was functioning properly, but now the Spill alarm is activated even though your tank is empty. Learn ways to troubleshoot your system when this happens.

After System Installation or Repair

The Spill alarm may be stuck due to an incorrect installation. The Spill alarm may also have been triggered by testing after the installation or repair.

Step 1: Enter Offset Calibration Mode

1.   Enter into Offset Calibration mode, making sure you do NOT change any of the display settings.

2.   Then turn the system power off and back on again.

TIP:

Refer to What is Offset Calibration Mode for more details.

If the Spill alarm is still active after your system is powered back on, proceed to Step 2 below.

Step 2: Remove Objects Too Close

Any metal object within a 2" clearance from the probe rod, tank wall and top, riser, baffles, pipes and brackets can cause the Spill alarm to stay active.

1.   Check the clearance around the probe.
    • inside the riser if it’s installed
    • inside the tank

2.   Either move or modify any object at least 2" from the probe. If this is not feasible, the probe will need to be relocated to a clearer part of the tank.

3.   Ensure that the TD transmitter is tightened on the probe.

4.   Enter Offset Calibration mode again (Step 1) if anything was moved, modified or relocated.

Tip:

Refer to How to address a Stuck Spill Alarm to learn other ways the Spill alarm might get triggered and possible solutions to resolve this.
