How do I set my 4mA and 20mA points in my strapping chart?

Overview:

The TD100 T22 transmitter can transmit liquid level data to third-party systems through the standardized 4-20mA signal. The signal spans from 4 mA (0% level) to 20 mA (100% level) and is linear between the two points set in SensorLink. To ensure the most accurate output, it’s important that your 4-20 mA settings align with the specific tank levels on the strapping chart programmed in the transmitter and third-party device if applicable.

Step-by-Step Configuration:

  1. Connect the TD100 T22 to Your Computer:
    • Ensure the TD100 T22 is powered and connected to your computer using the programming kit wiring.
    • Open the SensorLink software.
    • For more information about wiring your transmitter up for programming, click here.
  2. Access the 4-20 mA Configuration Settings:
    • In SensorLink, click on the “Set 4-20mA Points” button on the bottom left side of the TD100 configuration page.
  3. Set the 4 mA and 20 mA Points:
    • By default, 4 mA corresponds to an empty tank, and 20 mA corresponds to a full tank. To modify these settings:
      • Enter in the depth at which you want the 4mA and 20mA points to occur. Press OK when finished.
  4. Align with the Third-Party Device’s Strapping Chart (if applicable):
    • For more precise readings, make sure the third-party device is also programmed with a strapping chart or something similar to match the TD100’s configuration. This ensures the linear 4-20 mA signal translates accurately into volume or level data.
  5. Testing:
    • Test the output using the third-party system to confirm the calibration is correct.

Note: If you are unsure of the required settings, the factory defaults are typically used for standard applications.
