Dashed Lines on a FINCH 5332E
If the FINCH 5332E display shows four dashes (----), this indicates a loss of communication between the Transmitter and the display.
Follow this 3 step process to isolate the fault to one of three components: the display, the tank cable/wiring, or the transmitter.
Step 1: Inspect the SVBus Status LED
- Open the FINCH 5332E display lid.
- Locate the main circuit board inside the door. The board contains a large white connector.
- Turn system power ON.
- Observe the SVBus Status LED located near the large white connector.
ADD IMAGE
Normal Operation
- The LED pulses on and off in a steady heartbeat pattern.
Abnormal Operation
- Irregular blinking
- Partial illumination
- Solid ON condition
Any of these conditions indicate a probable communication fault.
Step 2: Isolate the Display
- Turn system power OFF.
- Disconnect the transmitter from the display by unplugging the transmitter connection:
- FINCH 5332E (Green Board): Connector marked P2
- FINCH 5332E (Red Board): Connector marked Transmitter
- Turn system power ON again.
If the SVBus LED remains ON: The FINCH 5332E display is faulty and requires you to upgrade to our latest FINCH display version.
If the SVBus LED turns OFF: Continue to Step 3.
Step 3. Verify the Cable and Transmitter
- Remove the TD80 transmitter from the top of the tank.
- Using a known-good cable or wiring, reconnect the TD80 directly to the display.
Results
- If communication is restored, the original cable or field wiring is faulty.
- If the display continues to show four dashes (
----), the TD80 transmitter is defective and needs to be upgraded to our latest TD100 transmitter.
