If you notice the volume reading on your FINCH display is fluctuating unexpectedly and the displayed values seem illogical, this could indicate a problem with your Transmitter that requires attention.
Below are some key areas to examine when encountering this situation:
- Probe Issue: Check the probe for physical damage, corrosion or product build up. If probe is bent repair or replace probe. If the shorting block is missing or loose replace or tighten as needed. If build up is present, clean probe using a suitable solvent such as brake cleaner. For Dual Rod probes, check the gap between the rods at the height the erratic readings start to appear on the FINCH display. If there is any type of product stuck on the probe, this needs to be cleaned with suitable solvent.
- Transmitter and Probe Connection Issue: Check the connection between probe and transmitter for contamination such as water, anti-seize compound or oil. Clean all surfaces of contaminants to ensure a good mechanical connection. Refer to Installation Video before putting the Transmitter back onto the Probe.
- Power Supply Issue: Check the power supply to the FINCH
If nothing above addressed this issue, there is an internal issue with your transmitter and needs to be repaired or replaced.
Note: Erratic readings could also be caused when a mobile radio is transmitting too close to the TD100 components. This could happen when system is installed in fiberglass tanks. In that case a metal stilling well will need to be installed if transmitted signal is too strong to isolate.
